WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE:

The main objective is to give the student an introduction to the world of gastronomic imagery.
We won't always be able to work with Food Style, as we might be hired by smaller restaurants or eateries. Therefore, we'll explore the necessary techniques to make food look stunning in our photos without using extraneous elements other than food. We'll learn how to collaborate with the chef and achieve the best possible results.
Participants should bring a camera; a large part of the workshop will consist of practical exercises designed to apply what has been learned in theory, with all its variations.

Workshop Dynamics.

The workshop will take place directly in a restaurant. There, we'll cover the theory and then talk with the owner and the chef to discuss the type of photography we'll be doing. Starting at noon, we'll begin photographing the dishes the chef sends us.

It will be important to see the connection we must have with the place and with the chef to achieve images with personality.

DURATION: 2 days - 9 hours per day

METHODOLOGY

MAXIMUM CAPACITY 15 people.

ORGANIZED BY : Kevin Pérez - Whatsapp: (571) 337-0302

SYLLABUS:

In the morning: (Theory):
The importance of food photography. Different types of food photography: gourmet, editorial, billboard, packaging, etc. Still lifes of dishes. Composition and design in food photography.
Lighting to convey information and create the right atmosphere. Light modifiers. Diffusion, direction, and number of light sources. Colors and how to combine them. Food presentation. The four essential lighting schemes. Editing in food photography.

Afternoon (Practical): The idea is to photograph the dishes the chef brings and work through the various challenges that arise with each type of food. Then we'll edit some of the photos to create a finished product. Through a hands-on approach, we'll deliver a final product.

“The workshop is very intense in terms of its dynamics; theory occupies a central and necessary place to know why we do things, but practice is constant, since we generally see in each work different ways of using resources to achieve similar results or to completely change the idea.”
