What do I need to participate in the Mentoring program?

You simply need a camera with interchangeable lenses and a computer with an internet connection. From the 6th class onwards, you'll need a hot-shoe flash.

What will the practical work be like?

The assignments are designed to allow you to put the theory you've learned into practice (to give the theory a practical application). At the beginning of each class, we'll review the assignments, and I'll give feedback to those who submit them. Doing them isn't mandatory, but it will be very helpful if you do.

What happens if I miss a class?

The classes are recorded, so you can access them whenever you want. You can ask any questions you may have through the WhatsApp group.The classes are saved and available only to students through the virtual platform www.gustavopomarfotografia.online, which allows the student lifetime access to them.

Perhaps you lack technical knowledge and want to acquire it. Or perhaps you feel you have a grasp of the technique but haven't yet managed to express yourself, to connect the resources in the way you feel you should. Or maybe you lack expressive resources within the technical aspects. Light is the aesthetic material with which we create our work, and lighting is the standardized technique by which we control, manipulate, and give specific treatment to light. That's why mastering lighting techniques is so important. Because it's what will create your photograph, and it will do so from your own unique perspective. Today, I want to invite you to deepen your learning process alongside other enthusiastic students who share your goals: to grow in photography, to master the image in order to express themselves visually. I form groups of up to 10 people, and in 12 classes, we develop the different subjects: Lighting 1 and 2, Composition 1 and 2, etc.

What will you learn in the Lighting 1 mentorship?

The four lights, golden rules. – Advanced techniques. Modeling objects with light: volume, texture, tone, and contrast. – Manual flash. Guide number and calculations. TTL flash. Uses and applications. Creative uses of flash. Bounced flash, flash painting, slow flash, multi-exposure. Flash outdoors. Off-camera flash. Using radio triggers, photocells, and infrared triggers. Creative masks for flash photography. Painting with a flashlight or continuous lighting. Light modifiers: softboxes, umbrellas, octoboxes, honeycomb grids, snoots, and masks. Modeling with light.

What are the group meetings like?

We will have weekly meetings via Zoom, lasting 1.5 hours. We follow a study plan designed to systematically develop our skills in each area of photography, such as photographic technique, photographic composition, photographic lighting, creativity, etc. Classes are held live. We will schedule a time and meet in the Zoom room at that time (please check the time difference for your country). Each class will also be recorded and available on my platform so you can watch them as many times as you like. Access to the course is lifetime and unlimited. During the week, questions will be answered via WhatsApp in a group we will create for this purpose. The maximum class size is 10 students to ensure a smooth learning experience.
